We have another great week ahead at Somerset! We begin by welcoming families to our School Council and Friends of Somerset School meeting on Monday evening, and on Wednesday, our Grade 4 students will welcome Youth Education Officer Melissa VanWaes for her first classroom visits.
We are also getting closer to our Casino Fundraiser, and we need our Somerset community to help us fill the final 10 volunteer positions. Whether you join us at a meeting, volunteer your time, or simply help reinforce safe choices on the way to school, there are many ways to stay connected this week.
THIS WEEK AT SOMERSET
MONDAY | School Council & Friends of Somerset School meeting
October 5 | 6:15 p.m.
Families are invited to join us for our School Council and Friends of Somerset School meeting. This is a great opportunity to connect with our school community, hear what is happening at Somerset and be part of supporting our students and school.
We hope you can join us!
WEDNESDAY | Welcoming Youth Education Officer Cst. Mellisa VanWaes
October 7 | Grade 4 | 9:00–11:00 a.m.
On Wednesday, our Grade 4 students will welcome Youth Education Officer Melissa VanWaes, who will spend one hour with each Grade 4 class.
Melissa will be joining us throughout the school year and working with all of our classes. Her programming focuses on emotional well-being, positive relationships and safety, while also helping students understand the role of police as community helpers.
We look forward to welcoming Melissa to Somerset and the learning and connections ahead!

Our Casino Fundraiser is one of our most important fundraising opportunities of the year, and its success depends on volunteers from our Somerset community.
A few hours of your time can make a BIG difference for our students.
Funds raised through the casino help create meaningful opportunities and experiences that directly benefit students at Somerset School.
CAN YOU HELP?
We need volunteers to fill shifts on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17.
No experience is necessary. Parents, guardians, family members and community supporters are all welcome to volunteer.
