Following last week's Provincial Referendum and Photo Day Retakes & Group Photos, we're looking forward to another exciting week at Somerset School!
This week, we have some spooktacular Halloween activities planned, along with important reminders and opportunities to connect with and support our school community.
THURSDAY, October 29 | KINDERGARTEN HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES 🎃
Both AM and PM Kindergarten classes will enjoy Halloween-themed activities during their Physical Education blocks.
FRIDAY, October 30 | HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES 🎃
Get ready for some spooktacular fun! Students will participate in our annual Halloween Gym Activities during their Physical Education blocks.
Seven fun-filled stations are planned.
We look forward to a fang-tastic time filled with movement, laughter, and fun!
HALLOWEEN | COSTUMES & PARTICIPATION
Students are welcome to wear costumes to school if they wish. Dressing up is optional, and we encourage everyone to choose something comfortable, safe, and appropriate for Kindergarten through Grade 4.
Costume Guidelines:
School-appropriate:
- No gore, masks, negative stereotypes, or discriminatory elements.
Safe for movement:
- Costumes must allow students to participate fully in all activities, including Physical Education.
No prop weapons:
- Any prop weapons brought to school will be held in the office and must be picked up by a parent or guardian during office hours.
Easy to manage:
- Students should be able to use the washroom independently.
Not dressing up? No problem! Students are welcome to wear orange, black, another favorite color, or their regular school clothes.
Food & Treats: Please do not send food or treats to share. This helps keep everyone safe and included.
Inclusive Participation: We recognize that families celebrate and participate in different ways. If your child is unable to participate in Halloween activities, please contact their classroom teacher so alternative plans can be arranged.
Our goal is for every student to feel safe, welcomed, and included.
SCHOOL OPERATIONS & SAFETY NOTES
CHANGING WEATHER | DRESS WARMLY & STAY SAFE ❄️
As temperatures change and wet snow arrives, sidewalks, pathways, and playground surfaces can become slippery.
Here are a few friendly reminders:
Dress for the weather:
- Warm layers, jackets, gloves, and appropriate footwear help students stay comfortable outdoors.
- Keep a change of clothes in your student's backpack, in case they do get wet.
Watch your step:
- Wet snow and ice can make walking surfaces slippery.
Take your time:
- Encourage children to walk carefully, especially near entrances, sidewalks, and playground areas.
