Happy New Year and Welcome to 2025!  

We hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday season! We're excited to kick off the year with energy and enthusiasm as we continue our journey of learning and growth. Classes resume tomorrow, Monday, January 6, 2025, for all students. We can’t wait to see everyone back in action! 

Below are your WEELKY UPDATES

  • A very warm welcome to Ms. Sarah Frazer, who is returning to Somerset School this year! We are thrilled to have her back on board, and we know her students are going to love working with her. 
  • Also, let’s give a big welcome to Ms. Saron Megersa, our new Student Educational Assistant, who will be working alongside our grade teams to ensure every student has the support they need to succeed. We’re excited to have her join the Somerset family! 
  • This week, we will also be having our second Lockdown Practice. Please remember, this is an important part of our school safety plan to ensure our students and staff are prepared and know exactly what to do in case of an emergency. We’ll be practicing this procedure, alongside the Calgary Police Service carefully to ensure everyone is comfortable and informed. 

WEATHER-Ready Reminder for Parents 

  • As winter weather continues, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the cold, with warm layers, mittens, hats, and waterproof footwear. 
  • To help prevent lost items, kindly label all clothing and personal items. This will make it easier to return any misplaced items to their rightful owner. Thank you for your support! 

Kindergarten REGISTRATION for 2025-2026 

Registration opens January 13, 2025.

New and updated help pages for MyCBE and SchoolEngage are now available, including video tutorials, FAQs, and tips for completing forms and uploading documents (e.g., Demographic Verification Form in SchoolEngage).
