inform | Somerset School Modular Removal Update

(message from CBE Communications)

Over Spring Break, the modular units from Somerset School will begin to be relocated to their new home. At this time, you can expect the following:

  • The week of March 24 the first two units will be detached from their current location and moved to the furthest north portion of the school field.
  • Fencing will be put up around the modulars while they are temporarily on the school field before being moved to their new location at the end of the week.
  • During the week of March 31, the same process will take place for the two remaining modulars.
  • Once the modular units are removed, the asphalt area will be repaved, and any landscaping remediation will be completed.

Student and staff safety remains our top priority. The construction area will be securely fenced, and all work during school hours will be carefully managed to minimize disruptions.

The removals of the modular units and remediation of those areas are expected to be completed by the end of the current school year.

Thank you for your patience and support as we make these improvements to provide additional learning spaces across our growing school system.

Scholastic Book Fair (message from Mrs. Smith)

We are so excited to share that our school will be hosting our second Scholastic Book Fair of the year from April 1 to April 4. During this time, students will have the chance to explore a wide variety of exciting books, including new titles from their favorite series, fiction and nonfiction books to spark their curiosity. They will also find fun school supplies, like pens, pencils, erasers, and more to brighten their desks!

We are also happy to offer parents the opportunity to shop after school on two special afternoons. The Learning Commons will be open:

  • Thursday, April 3, until 4:00 PM
  • Friday, April 4, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.

Please come through the office for your shopping visit.

The Scholastic Book Fair is not only a fun event but also an important fundraiser for our school. Every purchase made helps generate funds for new books for our library, supporting our students’ love for reading.

Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break! I look forward to seeing you in April!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Smith

Safety Update

As we continue to work together to create a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for all students, we regularly highlight key safety items and reminders both through informal and formal communications throughout the school year. These areas are crucial to the well-being of our students and the smooth functioning of our school, and we approach them with care and thoughtfulness.

Please know that we approach these topics with an educational lens, fostering understanding through conversations, written communications, and visual aids such as increased signage, pylons, and delineators to list a few. We value your partnership in these efforts and appreciate your patience as we continue to cycle through different zones to support understanding. If you feel the need for more corrective action, the following Calgary services are available to help:

Traffic Concerns

Calgary Police Service's Non-Emergency Line: 403-266-1234

City of Calgary's Traffic Service Request system:

Animal-Related Concerns:

Call 311 and ask to speak to Animal Services.

See everyone when school resumes on March 31

Hand to Heart,
