Oki Somerset families,

As we gather to reflect on another week of learning and growth, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the incredible moments that have unfolded within our school community.

Here are some highlights from this past week:

Our Grade 3 students embarked on a thrilling adventure as they participated in their first offsite field study of the year, exploring the wonders of science at Telus Spark. What an exciting opportunity for hands-on learning and discovery!

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated School Council for their thoughtful recognition of School Principal's Day. Your support and partnership mean the world to us, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve our amazing school community.

Let's also extend a warm round of applause to our creative Grade 1 students, who adorned our office doors with words of appreciation and warm thoughts. Your kindness and thoughtfulness bring joy to our hearts and smiles to our faces!

Last but certainly not least, I want to commend each and every member of our school community for their exemplary participation and cooperation during our final Fire Drill of the year. Your commitment to safety and preparedness is commendable, and your efforts ensure that we are well-prepared for any situation.

As we move forward into the week ahead, let's embrace the scenic moments that surround us each day. Whether it's the beauty of nature, the warmth of friendship, or the excitement of learning, let's take a moment to appreciate the scenic wonders that make life truly extraordinary.

WORD of the WEEK: Scenic

As we embark on another exciting week of learning and discovery, we're thrilled to unveil our newest 'Word of the Week': Scenic!

Definition: "Scenic" refers to something that is beautiful or picturesque, especially in terms of natural scenery.

Synonyms: Picturesque, breathtaking, panoramic, picturesque.

Antonyms: Dull, uninteresting, uninspiring, mundane.

Fun Family Activity

This week, let's sprinkle some scenic magic into our conversations and adventures! Encourage your child to weave the word "scenic" into their daily dialogue. Perhaps they can describe the view from their bedroom window as "scenic," or share their thoughts on a scenic walk in the park.

Here's a prompt to kick-start the creativity: "Yesterday, when we took a walk in the park, I saw the most scenic view of the sunset reflecting off the lake."

Encourage your child to explore different senses when using the word "scenic." How does something scenic smell, sound, or feel? Let's dive into the sensory delight of this enchanting word together.
